The RK-Wi.232FHSS-250-FCC-R is the development kit for the FCC certified, 902-928MHz Wi.232FHSS-250-FCC-ST-R™ and Wi.232FHSS-250-FCC-RA-R™ embedded modules.

The Wi.232FHSS-250-FCC-R™ modules combine a state-of-the art low power wireless transceiver with a powerful multipoint-to-multipoint protocol controller to form a complete wireless communication solution. With a simple UART interface, a 132.5dB link budget, and very low power operation modes, the Wi.232FHSS-250-FCC-R™ module is excellent for Automated Meter Reading (AMR), oil and as sensing, GPS fleet manaement, building controls, wireless sensing and most wire replacement applications requiring ranges over 5-10 miles. The Wi.232FHSS-250-FCC-R™ uses frequency hopping spread-spectrum modulation and has a compatibility mode with its lower output sister module, Wi.232FHSS-25-R™ .

The module can operate as a transparent wire replacement solution; it can also operate in a peer-to-peer networked mode that supports node addressing and assured delivery. The module is designed to be totally transparent. Data is validated using an internally generated CRC-16 and encoded using a proprietary algorithm. Multiple modules can operate on the same channel because of the built-in carrier-sense-multiple-access (CSMA) protocol. The Wi.232FHSS-250-FCC-R modules have a Automatic Gain Control (AGC) RSSI feature and also four adjustable power settings.

The RK-Wi.232FHSS-250-FCC™ kit contains 2 Eval. Boards, 2 Wi.232FHSS-250-FCC-ST-R™ Modules , 2 serial port cables, 2ea ANT-915-06A Reverse polarity dual band 850MHz to 930MHz ½ wave dipole antennas, (8) AAA batteries, 2 USB cables, and documentation/software CD. The Evaluation boards can be used as full-duplex null modems and can connect to RS-232 or TTL level UART ports. A full line of FCC certified antennas are available.
