Description


The Wi.USB-DTS-R is an FCC pre-certified desktop unit combining a high-performance wireless spread-spectrum transceiver, based on the Semtech XE1203F, with a protocol controller to create a transparent wireless solution for wire replacement applications. The Wi.USB-DTS-R is perfect complement product for embedded Wi.232DTS-R sensor networks requiring PC/laptop interface or point-to-point long-range PC/laptop communications. A typical application is the use of the Wi.USB-DTS-R base station as an Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) base station/mobile unit that communicates with embedded Wi.232DTS-R modules residing in residential meters.

The Wi.USB-DTS-R, like the Wi.232DTS-R module, can be used in point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and multipoint-to-multipoint applications, making it very flexible for today's embedded applications. Both products meet FCC Part 15 rule for Digital Transmission System (DTS). See application note on DTS for more information on these rules.

The unit operates in two power modes. In high power mode, the transmit power is up to +12dBm, the maximum RF data rate is 152.34kbit/second, and 32 channels are supported. In low power mode, the transmit power is 0dBm, the maximum RF data rate is 38.4kbit/second, and 83 channels are supported. With its exceptional receiver sensitivity, a Wi.USB-DTS-R unit, communicating with a Wi.232DTS-R module or another Wi.USB-DTS-R, can reach distances of 500-800 feet indoors and 1500-2500 feet outdoors.

The Wi.USB-DTS-R base station is completely interoperable with all Radiotronix DTS embedded radio products: Wi.232DTS-R, Wi.232DTS-FCC-RA-R and Wi.232DTS-FCC-ST-R. Also available is a complete development kit, RK-Wi.USB-DTS-R for fast integration into designs.

It allows an engineer to make any product wireless in a matter of days, not months, saving valuable design resources and getting the product to market faster. The Wi.USB-DTS-R module is very easy to use. Simply plug it into any USB PC port.
