IES5521A Zero Crossing Triac Control with Time-Out Timer IC

IES5521A is a cost-efficient temperature control integrated circuit with an added "time-out" timer function as a safety feature to automatically switch off the triac operation after a selectable preset operating time whilst mains power remains connected. This is a key safety feature for many domestic electrical and personal appliances.

The nominal "time-out" period is 1 hour controlled from the AC supply frequency (50Hz or 60Hz). Other "time-out" periods from less than 1 hour or up to more than 5 hours can be easily set by the use of an external RC network.

The IES5521A like the OM1654A, offers the simplicity of direct mains operation for triac control of heating elements. The IES5521A is an ideal electronic replacement for bimetallic thermostats, where a "time-out" timer needs to be introduced as a safety feature in home appliances.
