Vincotech’s A1035-H – the answers to the most critical requirements in the GPS market

This module is the answer to the most critical requirements in the GPS market: high performance, new features and lowest cost – along with fast and seamless system integration. The module is based on Vincotech’s A1084 GPS receiver, which is designed around the SiRFstar III GPS chip.

Accurate positioning is becoming an increasingly vital part of our world and even of our daily life. Apart from the traditional GPS applications, such as car navigation and car breakdown emergency systems, GPS functionality has expanded into the consumer market, in products such as PNDs, mobile phones, or digital cameras. Similarly, many industrial solutions developed today implement accurate positioning and, very often, intelligent communication. The A1035-H antenna module, with a footprint of 16.5 x 30.5mm², is based on Vincotech's A1084 GPS receiver. This receiver is designed around the SiRFstar III GPS chip and is optimized for use with passive antennas. With the on-module antenna tuned to the receiver, a high level of sensitivity is achieved. Furthermore, the A1035-H has been especially designed for an extremely low current draw (an average of 85mW in tracking mode); the module is thus a perfect fit, fulfilling the latest requirements for more integration and cost-saving solutions.

The A1035-H also offers an additional input for external antennas. By changing the state of an input pin, the application can switch between this external, typically active antenna (giving the module a tracking sensitivity of -159 dBm) and the integrated one. The integrated antenna can thus be used as a safety back-up, a useful feature in many applications. Surface Mount Technology (SMT) allows for the use of pick-and-place machines, so no manual operation is required. Vincotech’s evaluation boards offer an easy start for customers with limited experience in GPS applications.
